Ms. Safa Shareef was appointed as a Member of the Board of Directors of the Maldives International Arbitration Centre on 16 April 2019.

Ms Shareef is a founding partner of Hisaan & Safa LLP and has worked extensively in civil litigation.

She is a leading lawyer in the area of human rights in the Maldives and has successfully represented numerous clients for wrongful detention. She has previously acted in the legal team for the former President of Maldives.

Prior to starting her private practice Ms Shareef worked in the Attorney General’s Office.

She completed her Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the International Islamic University of Malaysia. She was a Fulbright Scholar and completed her masters in the United States of America.

She is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators.
