The official Launching Event of the Maldives International Arbitration Centre was held on 8 November 2021 at Crossroads Maldives. The Chief Guest of the ceremony was the Chief Justice of the Maldives, Hon. Uz. Muthasim Adnan. Attorney General Uz. Ibrahim Riffath, Justices of the High Court and other government officials were in attendance.
In his address, the Chief Justice highlighted the harmonious nature of arbitration and the judicial system and the importance of discharging the supervisory function of the courts under the Arbitration Act effectively in order to enable speedy resolution of commercial disputes.
In his introductory remarks, Chairman of MIAC, Mr. Shahdy Anwar highlighted the groundwork that has been done since 2019 after the current Board was appointed, including training of arbitrators, introducing an online case management portal and developing modern Rules of Arbitration.
The immediate past Global President of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Mr. Francis Xavier and Special Counsel CLDP Mr. Zmarak Khan also addressed the invitees.
The Event was held in partnership with the Commercial Law Development Program of the US Department of Commerce.
ާނޫނު ނ ންބ ރު 2013/10( އާބިޓްރޭޝ ނުގެ ޤާނޫނު( ގެ ދ ށުން އުފ އްދ ވާފ އިވާ މޯލްޑިވްސް އިންޓ ރނޭޝ ނ ލް އާބިޓްރޭޝ ން ސެންޓ ރުގެ އާބިޓްރޭޝ ންގެ ކ ންކ މާއި ގުޅުން ހުރި ޚިދުމ ތްތ އް 2020 ވ ނ އ ހ ރުގެ ތެރޭގ އިވ ނީ ރ ސްމީކޮށް ދޭން ފ ށާފ އެވެ. ނ މ ވެސް، ކޮވިޑް-19 ގެ ޙާލ ތާއި ގުޅިގެން ސެންޓ ރު އިފްތިތާޙުކުރުމުގެ ރ ސްމިއްޔާތު ބޭއްވިފ އިނުވާތީ ، 08 ނޮވެންބ ރު 2021 ވ ނ ދުވ ހުވ ނީ ރ ސްމީކޮށް ސެންޓ ރު އިފްތިތާޚުކުރުމުގެ ހ ފްލާ ކްރޮސްރޯޑްސްގ އި ބާއްވާފ އެވެ. މި ރ ސްމިއްޔާތުގެ ޝ ރ ފުވެރި މެހެމާނ ކީ ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ އުއްތ މ ފ ނޑިޔާރު އޮނ ރ ބ ލް އ ލްއުސްތާޛު އ ޙްމ ދު މުޢުތ ޞިމް ޢ ދުނާނުއެވެ. ޝ ރ ފްވެރި މެހެމާނުގެ ވާހ ކ ފުޅުގ އި އާބިޓްރޭޝ ންގެ ނިޒާމާއި ކޯޓުތ ކާއި ހުރި ގުޅުން ފާހ ގ ކުރ އްވާ، އާބިޓްރޭޝ ންގެ ނިޒާމު ހ ރުދ ނާ ގޮތެއްގ އި ހިންގުމ ށް ކޯޓުތ ކުން އ ދާކުރ ންޖެހޭ ދ އުރުގެ މުހިއްމުކ ންވެސް ފާހ ގ ކުރެއްވިއެވެ. މި ރ ސްމިއްޔާތު ފ އްޓ ވ އިދެއްވ މުން ސެންޓ ރުގެ ޗެއ ރމ ން އ ލްއުސްތާޛު މުޙ އްމ ދު ޝ ހުދީ އ ންވ ރުވ ނީ 2019 ވ ނ އ ހ ރު ބޯޑު އެކުލ ވާލުމާއެކު މިހާތ ނ ށް ސެންޓ ރު ގާއިމްކޮށް އާބީޓްރޭ ޝ ނުގެ ނިޒާމު ފުރިހ މ ކުރުމ ށް ކުރެވުނު މ ސ އްކ ތްތ އް ފާހ ގ ކުރ އްވާފ އެވެ. އެގޮތުން ދިވެހި އާބިޓްރޭޓ ރުން ބި ނާކުރުމާއި އާބިޓްރޭޝ ނުގ އި ހިމެނޭ ހުރިހާ ފ ރާތްތ އް ތ މްރީނުކުރުން ހިމެނެއެވެ. އ ދި، ސެންޓ ރުގެ ރޫލްސް އޮފް އާބިޓްރޭޝ ން ބ އިނ ލްއ ޤުވާމީ ފެންވ ރ ށް އެކުލ ވާލުމ ށް ޔޫ.އެސް ސްޓޭޓް ޑިޕާޓްމ ންޓްގެ ކޮމާޝ ލް ލޯ ޑިވ ލޮޕްމ ންޓް ޕްރޮގްރާމްގެ އެހީގ އި ހާވާޑް ލޯ ސްކޫލްގެ ލޯ އެންޑް އިންޓ ރނޭޝ ނ ލް ޑިވ ލޮޕްމ ންޓް ސޮސ އިޓީގެ ޓީމ ކުން ކުރ މުން ދާ މ ސ އްކ ތްތ ކ ށް އ ލިއ ޅުވާލިއެވެ. އ ދި އާބިޓްރޭޝ ނުގެ ގާނޫނު އިސްލާހުކުރުމުގެ މ ސ އްކ ތް ފެށިފ އިވާކ ން ފާހ ގ ކުރެ އްވިއެވެ. މީގެ އިތުރުން، ސެ ންޓ ރ ށް ހު ށ ހެޅޭ މ އްސ ލ ތ އް އޮންލ އިންކޮށް ހިންގޭނެ ކޭސް މެނޭޖްމ ންޓް ޕޯޓ ލް އެއް ސެންޓ ރުން ގާއިމްކޮށްފ އިވާކ ން ފާހ ގ ކުރެއްވިއެވެ. މި ޙ ފްލާގ އި ޗާޓ ޑް އިންސްޓިޓިއުޓް އޮފް އާބި ޓްރޭޓ ރސްގެ 2020 ވ ނ އ ހ ރުގެ ގްލޯ ބ ލް ޕްރެސިޑެންޓް ފްރާންސިސް ޒެވިއ ރ އާއި ޔޫ.އެސް ސްޓޭޓް ޑިޕާޓްމ ންޓްގެ ކޮމާޝ ލް ލޯ ޑިވ ލޮޕްމ ންޓް ޕްރޮގްރާމްގެ ސީނީއ ރ ކ އުންސެލް ޒ މާރ ކް ކާން މުޙާތ ބުކުރެއްވިއެވެ. މި ރ ސްމިއްޔާތު ބޭއްވީ ޔޫ.އެސް ސްޓޭޓް ޑިޕާޓްމ ންޓްގެ ކޮމާޝ ލް ލޯ ޑިވ ލޮޕްމ ންޓް ޕްރޮގްރާމްއާ ގުޅިގެންނެވެ.
