MIAC and SARCO, Sign MOU for Future Collaboration
MIAC, on behalf of the Republic of Maldives, and the SAARC Arbitration Council (SARCO) have reaffirmed their commitment to promote the resolution of commercial, trade and investment disputes through institutional arbitration, mediation, and other ADR mechanisms, with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 4 October 2026.
The MoU was signed by Ms. Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed, Chief Executive Officer of MIAC, and Mr. Choining Dorji, Director General of SARCO. The signing marks an important milestone in fostering greater regional cooperation and strengthening access to effective, efficient, and reliable dispute resolution mechanisms.
The partnership will also facilitate the planning and implementation of joint programmes, initiatives, and capacity-building activities, as appropriate, to further advance knowledge, cooperation, and best practices in international dispute resolution.
This MoU reflects a shared commitment to strengthening the regional arbitration landscape and promoting the Maldives and the wider SAARC region as an increasingly connected and trusted hub for international dispute resolution.
