MIAC, MOC and AIAC Successfully Hold the First Sports Arbitration Conference to Advance Sports Dispute Resolution in the Maldives
The MIAC, in collaboration with the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) and the Asian International Arbitration Centre (AIAC), successfully held a one day Sports Arbitration Conference aimed at familiarizing key stakeholders in the sporting sector with sports arbitration and its potential role in resolving sports related disputes.

The conference brought together representatives from sports associations, athletes, legal practitioners and other stakeholders to explore the initiation of sports arbitration in the Maldives. It also provided an opportunity for participants to engage with the speakers, exchange views and gain insights into international practices and the effective development of sports dispute resolution mechanisms.
The conference featured two distinguished speakers, Mr. Richard Wee, Managing Partner of Richard Wee Chambers, and Ms. Heather Yee Jing Wah, Registrar of the AIAC, who shared their knowledge and expertise on sports arbitration.

MIAC views this event as marking an important beginning for sports arbitration and hopes that this conference will be the first of many conversations, programmes and initiatives aimed at supporting the establishment and development of sports arbitration in the Maldives.
