On 16 October 2021, The Maldives International Arbitration Centre conducted a one-day seminar for registrars, court officers and legal staff from the Supreme Court, High Court and Civil Court.

The seminar was conducted with a focus on role of courts in arbitration. The discussions covered both foreign and domestic arbitral awards within the context of the UNCITRAL Model Law on International Commercial Arbitration, Maldivian Arbitration Act, and its related regulations.

The session was facilitated by Mr. Darshendev Singh. Mr. Singh is a practicing advocate & solicitor in Malaysia and Partner at Lee Hishammuddin Allen & Gledhill. Besides regularly sitting as an arbitrator and an adjudicator, he also represents clients in international and domestic arbitration, litigation, mediation, and adjudication. He has been involved in numerous ad hoc as well as institutional arbitrations.
